Assault With a Deadly Weapon Trial: San Bernardino County Superior Court - Victorville Courthouse. Client, who was a prospect for a motorcycle club was charged with stabbing a person in the back during an altercation. The District Attorney offered 8 years state prison - client's total exposure was 17 years; After a one month long trial, the jury found the client not guilty after only two hours of deliberation.
Felony Assault with Injury: San Bernardino Superior Court - San Bernardino Central Courthouse. Client, who was a local public servant employee was charged with felony assault after being seen on video punching and kicking the alleged victim over 25 times. District Attorney's offer for felony assault was one year in County jail. This offer would have resulted in the client never being able to work as a public safety officer again. After a one month long trial and 2 1/2 days of deliberation, the jury deadlocked at 8 for not guilty, and 4 for guilty. The District Attorney later dismissed all felony charges. The client is again working as a public safety employee.
Riverside County Superior Court - Client, who is a rocket scientist with the federal government with the highest security clearance, was charged with a DUI after a single car collision at the 91/215 freeway interchange. A guilty verdict would have resulted in the client being terminated from his chosen profession with a loss of security clearance. After a two week long trial the jury deadlocked at 9 for not guilty and 3 for guilty. At the trial the District Attorney dismissed the DUI charges and the client continues to serve for the federal government at the highest security clearance. This was a difficult case. Client was over the legal limit and denied drinking to the officers. As a side note, our office also prevailed at the Dept. of Motor Vehicles hearing level so the client never suffered a loss of his driver's license.
