Cases of Note
  • One of our clients was a female over-the-road truck driver who had individual occupational accident insurance. She injured her back and was denied benefits after the insurer paid for two years. Our client and her dog ended up homeless, because she had no other sources of income available to her. Ultimately, we were able to bring a bad faith case against the insurance carrier and the settlement allowed her to pay cash for a home and secured her a monthly annuity payment for life. She still calls us to check in a few times a year.
  • We have handled countless ERISA cases where the clients were losing the cars, homes, etc. and were able to secure a settlement in time to reverse the situation and ease some of the financial pressures. One woman was forced to abruptly stop her chemotherapy treatments when her insurance company denied her claim. She was facing homelessness and a very scary medical future when we intervened. We were able to recover her monthly benefits on appeal and ultimately resolve the claim via lump sum settlement. She and her husband now  have a roof over their heads and her cancer was successfully treated.
