Mark & Geralyn Skapik

Attorney Mark Skapik brings a diverse litigation background, having handled cases from automobile and SIU fraud claims to extensive construction defect trials. His practice spans police misconduct, CPS misconduct, government claims, civil rights, employment law and class actions, as well as personal injury claims. Recently, he has concentrated on class action litigation involving 42 U.S. Code § 1983 civil rights cases and on education and employment disputes—including wrongful termination, retaliation, wage and hour issues, and Fair Housing Act claims.

Notably, Mr. Skapik’s team secured an $11,000,000 recovery on behalf of the government in a Qui Tam False Claims Act matter.

Attorney Geralyn Skapik’s practice primarily encompasses litigation in general tort liability, municipal defense, environmental law, and complex actions. Her expertise extends to Qui Tam False Claims Act cases, class actions addressing civil rights violations, employment and labor disputes, wage and hour claims, trucking litigation, and suits against for-profit educational institutions.

In addition, she provides comprehensive guidance to both public agencies and private entities on environmental and land use issues. Her work covers regulations under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), the Endangered Species Act (ESA), and Multiple Species Habitat Conservation Plans (MSHCP). Recognized as Special Counsel by numerous cities, Ms. Skapik has effectively assisted City Council members, city attorneys, city managers, and city staff in navigating challenging legal matters.

With extensive experience at the state, appellate, and Supreme Court levels, she notably served as counsel in the landmark California Supreme Court land use case, City of Goleta v. Superior Court of Santa Barbara County.
